Proposal-Photoshooting with individual planning, for the perfect moment with a view of Neuschwanstein Castle
Every time I receive an inquiry for a surprise proposal or proposal photoshoot, my excitement rises immediately. In recent years, I’ve been receiving more and more messages from couples all over the world — especially from the United States.
Usually, there are two types of requests: endless back-and-forth emails from those hoping for a “standard package,” or a friendly video call where we discuss the details, connect personally — and then set the date.
Today, I’m happy to share a beautiful story from the second category: Craig and Tressa, who traveled all the way from Florida to enjoy a vacation in the Allgäu region. Craig’s parents have been living near Stuttgart for a few years, so the four of them decided to spend a few relaxing days together in Schwangau, staying at the lovely Hotel Rübezahl, before continuing their journey through southern Germany.
A truly special moment and an emotional proposal, right in the middle of the Allgäu mountains
We met on a golden autumn day at the end of October — one of those days when the colors glow and the air feels warm and full of promise. The family told Tressa that we’d be taking family portraits with Neuschwanstein Castle in the background, so that’s exactly how we started: first a view classic poses with the family together, then a bit more relaxed and candid.
After a while, I began photographing just the couple. We did a few formal poses — and then, as planned, I asked them to stand back-to-back. That was Craig’s secret cue.
He took a deep breath, reached into his pocket for the ring, and went down on one knee.
Of course, he added a few heartfelt words — and through happy tears, Tressa said yes.
It was such an emotional, joyful moment — one of those scenes that remind me why I love this work so much. Craig’s parents congratulated the couple before quietly heading off to get the car, leaving us a bit of private time to continue with the photos.
Where can we take a beautiful variety pictures with a special view of Neuschwanstein Castle?
That day, we photographed in three different locations:
- The scenic path where the proposal happened
- A nearby viewpoint within walking distance
- And finally, the romantic garden at Hotel Rübezahl, where the gazebo had been beautifully decorated to match the season and surroundings.
- The variety made for a stunning photo collection — from emotional close-ups to wide, dreamy landscape shots. During the photo presentation a few days later, Tressa and Craig selected 30 favorite images that perfectly told the story of their unforgettable morning.
A huge thank you to Craig and Tressa for your trust, your warmth, and for letting me capture this once-in-a-lifetime moment for you.
I wish you both all the happiness in the world — and many years of joy every time you look back at your photos.
